ecoConnect CIC is the UK’s Green Industry Business Network and low carbon industrial & cleantech connections hub for support, investment, skills and dialogue. We help enable the rapid growth of low carbon industry and cleantech in the UK and beyond bringing together leaders from all disciplines to progress the growth of this sector.

As a registered Social Enterprise, ecoConnect actively campaignes for sponsorship from a variety of sources and increasing its membership base. We have some very exciting programs to develop during 2012.

As such, new opportunities are available for Research and Support Interns to join our team. Under the supervision of the Chief Executive, you’ll actively contribute to the success of the organisation.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Research, identify, cultivate and secure sponsorship from corporate prospects.
• Help develop and implement sponsorship strategies and initiatives.
• Help build robust relationships with sponsor prospects and accompany ecoConnect’s Team members on visits, collaborating to create an effective support network to close sponsorship deals.
• Provide support: including writing proposals, drafting introductory and follow-up letters and background materials, preparing and delivering insightful, motivating presentations.
• Utilise initiative, independence, originality and responsibility in developing new methods and techniques for sponsorship. Work closely with other members of the Fundraising Team in identifying major gift prospects.
• Develop and maintain prospect databases, including generating analyses and summaries at regular intervals. and tracking progress on Salesforce.com. Prepare reports for colleagues and volunteers.
• Provide support on Membership drives.
• Other duties as required including events organisation.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

• Prefer Honors degree level with 2.1 or a first. MBA enrolled or graduate a plus. 3rd Sector, Social Enterprise or Environmental, Engineering, Cleantech business studies a plus.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Excellent oral and written English communication skills, with ability to communicate with diverse business stakeholders.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint or similar MAC environment.
• Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to develop and manage client relationships.
• Ability to research using publicly available sources.

EXPERIENCE OR SPECIAL SKILLS DESIRED:

• Experience with basic statistical analysis and research.
• Ability to prepare written reports based on data analysis, including tables and graphs.
• Familiarity with Salesforce.com or other CRM systems.

SCHEDULE:

• Maximum Commitment 40 hours a week. Minimum commitment: 180 hours over a minimum of 12 weeks (flexible schedule of 10-15 hours per week) Some tasks may appropriate for home working.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Compensation: Monthly stipend is not available, but intern will be compensated for any agreed expenses incurred due to outreach responsibilities and will have opportunities to participate in trainings, conferences and networking events with senior executives and management. As appropriate, a percentage of funds personally raised will be negotiated after trial, period with potential to move into full time employment.

An exciting opportunity to help on fundraising opportunities, in conjunction with the Chief Executive, is now available for a Research and Support Intern.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Research, identify, cultivate and secure grants and gifts of £25,000 and above, focusing on donors with capacity for six- and seven-figure gifts.
• Help develop and implement fundraising strategies and initiatives from major donors, trusts, foundations, corporates and funding agencies.
• Help build robust relationships with donor prospects and accompany ecoConnect’s Team members on visits with potential donors, collaborating to create an effective support network to close gifts.
• Provide support: including writing proposals, drafting introductory and follow-up letters and background materials, bids and applications for funding, preparing and delivering insightful, motivating presentations.
• Utilise initiative, independence, originality and responsibility in developing new methods and techniques for fund raising. Work closely with other members of the Sponsorship Team in identifying and tracking major gift prospects.

As such, an opportunity is available for a Social Media Intern to join our team.

ecoConnect is offering an opportunity for marketing students to help the effectiveness of our dynamic, small, non-profit organization. We’re looking for a self-starter with a healthy mix of analytical brilliance, incredible attention to detail and a strong entrepreneurial compass to play a critical role in PR and marketing campaigns and build our online presence through strategic market planning.

This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate with strong web and writing skills, who is seeking practical experience in strategic communications and marketing (including online marketing, social media, and public relations). The intern will gain insight and practical experience working on strategic nonprofit campaigns focusing on sustainability and social responsibility, as well as specific marketing projects and materials.

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive, the intern will help raise our profile by developing and implementing a Social Media Project Plan.  Specific tasks are given below.

• Improve our online brand presence through strategic marketing and planning using Social Media by developing, engaging and growing communities across all social platforms (primarily LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter).
• Build relationships with the online communications staff at other cleantech focussed companies (both for profit & nonprofits). Subscribe to allied nonprofits’ e-newsletters, and look for ways to share ecoConnect’s outreach with them.
• Develop content and graphics for an ecoConnect  newsletter using own generated and traded content.
• Schedule tweets and discussion threads into our social media platforms.
• Define and expand ecoConnect’s brand and reputation throughout new external social media sites.
• Identify and recommend new social media opportunities.
• Other duties as required including events organisation and sourcing relevant news content.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

• Prefer Honors degree level with 2.1 or a First. MBA enrolled or graduate a plus. Marketing, Strategy or Business studies a plus.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Excellent oral, written English communication skills, with ability to communicate in diverse stakeholders.
• Professional demeanour in business settings.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint or similar MAC environment.
• Must be web savvy and enjoy keeping up with new content-sharing technologies online. Experience using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media sites.
• Well organised with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to research using all public means available.

EXPERIENCE OR SPECIAL SKILLS DESIRED:

• Cleantech industry knowledge or interest. Social Enterprise Experience a plus.
• Ability to prepare written reports based on data analysis, including tables and graphs.
• Publishing/Newsletter programs ability a plus.
• Experience on previous online outreach desirable.
• Experience using graphics programs such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator desirable.

SCHEDULE:

• Maximum Commitment 40 hours a week. Minimum commitment: 180 hours over a minimum of 12 weeks (Flexible schedule of 10-15 hours per week) some tasks may be able to be performed from home office.
